Interferential Therapy
Interferential therapy uses two medium-frequency electrical currents that cross paths in the tissue between the electrode pads. Where they intersect, they produce a low-frequency effect that reaches deeper than a single current would on its own, without the surface discomfort a lower frequency alone tends to cause.
That deeper stimulation eases pain, reduces muscle spasm, and helps bring down inflammation and swelling. Most patients feel a gentle tingling under the pads and nothing more. Sessions are short, and many people notice looser muscles and less pain by the time the visit ends.
We use interferential therapy for acute flare-ups, post-injury swelling, and stubborn muscle spasm that limits how well other treatment works. It often runs alongside an adjustment or soft tissue work, calming the area first so the rest of the visit is more effective.
